The purpose of these pages is to provide a bit of information for the Linux newbie, & to help answer some common questions & problems.
I myself am relatively new to Linux, but I'm hooked on it. I do not claim to be a "professional" by any means, I have only been using Linux for the last 6 months,
but... I do know what it's like to sit in front of a freshly installed Linux machine & to ask oneself the question... "OK,.. what now?!?".
These pages were also born out of the need to document the "learn curve" so as not to lose the information, also the desire to give a little
back to the Linux community that made this possible in the first place. I hope that they have, or will be able to, help you in your quest.
For almost all users that start using Linux, depending on the OS's they have used before, there will be a certain amount of confusion.
Most users will come from a Microsoft background, & have problems getting their heads around what Linux can do, & more importantly how it does it!
The questions & confusion are absolutely understandable to anybody who has been through the learn curve with Linux.
Many of you may be sitting there & shaking your head & saying "oh that's all so simple" , well just remember back to
when you were first confronted with Win 3.x or Win95. We all know what it's like! Despite the difficulties getting to know Linux,
& its many many variations & distributions, it is well worth taking the time to get to know.
